questions and answers: buying

How do I arrange to view a property?
For most of you this may seem like a silly question, but some first time buyers may be a little more apprehensive about the process.

When you have seen a property that interests you, simply decide a convenient time to view and then give us a call.

We will explain the viewing arrangements to you and, if necessary, make an appointment with the owners of the property, If necessary, we will call back to confirm the viewing time. If you would like one of our experienced team to accompany and advise you on a viewing, please ask.

We also have a useful viewing sheet that you can download and print off to keep a log of the properties you view. Download pdf.

How do I make an offer?
It is always best to contact the agent selling the property to make an offer - this is where our skills come into action. Because we know and understand our client's circumstances, we can nurture the offer to a conclusion - keeping all parties concerned up to date throughout.

What happens when my offer is accepted?
Once your offer has been accepted and a complete chain has been confirmed, we will ask for your solicitors details. We then inform all parties in writing and keep in regular contact with the solicitors so that we can keep you fully informed at all times. At this stage if you require a mortgage you will need to start an application. Read our mortgages page for more details.

What happens on completion day?
We will contact you to confirm when completion takes place. This is usually around midday, but please be aware that many solicitors close for lunch so it may run into early afternoon. Arrangements for the keys to be collected - normally from the selling agent - are confirmed before the day of completion.

What are the costs involved in buying a property?
We have put together a guide that you can download and print off to help you calculate and keep track of the costs involved. Download pdf.
